Spanish Wells Community Association

Committees save time for board members!

Committees are typically comprised of non-board members. Committees can make recommendations to the board. The final decision still lies with the SWCA board of directors. Committees may have a board member liaison as well as a chairperson who will disburse written reports to the board.

There are generally two types of committees - standing and ad hoc committees. Standing committees are responsible for ongoing tasks - for instance, the Asset Oversight Committee (AOC), Landscaping committee, safety, things like that. Ad hoc committees are those that are formed for a specific purpose and will last for only the duration of that purpose.

Committees save time for board members. It allows them to focus on the business aspects of running Spanish Wells while committee members focus on specific issues. Committees are also a great way to get residents of Spanish Wells participation, allowing varying opinions and allow for a more diverse representation of the homeowners. Committees must have charters that clearly define their purpose and authority
